Ralph Edward Turner, age 81, of Gladesville passed suddenly on February 20, 2024 from cardiac arrest. He was born April 12, 1942, a son of the late Leslie and Mary Turner. His wife, JoAnn (Wolfe) Turner survives, they were united in marriage August 20, 1966. He was a son in law to the late Edwin and Ruth Wolfe, whom Ralph loved very much.
Ralph was retired from the Carpenter’s Local Union #604, Morgantown, WV with 50 plus years of service. He took pride in his skill and loved his work. He had a great passion to hunt, and the most enjoyment he got was in his coon dogs and horses. He enjoyed the companionship of his hunting buddies, Houston Elliott and Warren Kelly. Most of all Ralph love God, he was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church of Gladesville for most of his life where he served as deacon, trustee, teacher, construction leader on building projects, and many other duties. He has been attending Kingwood Southern Baptist church for the last 12 years. On March 5, 2005 Ralph had a severe stroke, but “praise God”, his health returned, except some speech. His friends understood and continued to carry on conversations as if nothing had changed. He was a “jack of all trades”. Known in the community as a handyman, he could ‘fix it” all. It was common to hear “call Ralph, he can fix it.” He was always ready to lend a helping hand. He loved his neighbors and always made time to stop and chat a minute. He saw the good in people and never said an unkind or mean word. Everyone loved him and will all surely miss his jokes and ornery smile.
In addition to his wife he is survived by: two sons: Pastor Marty (Debbie) Turner, and Michael (Nadine) Turner; one daughter, Martha (Cody) Elliott; grandchildren: Ashley (Zack) Turner, Austin (Kate) Turner, Houston Elliott, and Trace Turner; great grandchildren, Liam Turner, and another due in October; one brother, Kenneth Turner (Kay), of Grafton; and sister Karen Freeland, of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews.
