Donald McNair Obituary

Donald Lee McNair, 94, of Dearborn Michigan formerly of Arthurdale, WV entered into eternal rest from his home on Sunday, November 11th, 2018. He was born September 8th, 1924 in Fairchance, Pennsylvania a son of the late Harry McNair and Lova (Michaels) McNair after graduating from Arthurdale High School he went into the army, during World War II he spent most of his time in Northern Italy. He was assigned to headquarters battery 765th field artillery battalion. He served with the Fifth Army in the Mediterranean theater in Communications, fire directions, and as a forward observer in the northern Apennines Mountains and Po Valley campaigns. He worked with his dad as a carpenter and also at the Arthurdale Furniture Factory. Later he worked in Ohio and Michigan. He work for General Motors and Chrysler making displays for auto shows. He returned to the carpentry trade making cabinets and Store Fixtures. He retired in 1986 after 32 years as a mill man with union local #1452. Don will be missed and lovingly remembered by his brother, Eugene McNair of Barberton, Ohio; his sister Carol Hood of Charlottesville, Virginia; sisters-in-law Joanne (Pugh) Miles and Wilma "Billie" (Pugh) Wimer; niece Linda (Charles) Ault; nephews Rodger Wolfe, Jim and Tom Kelly; great-nieces Vivian Ault Veronica Lain Andrews, Christy McNair, and Erica Wolfe; great nephews: Grayson Wolfe, David McNair, Michael and Matthew Hood, and Nicholas and Hunter Hood. He is preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Ludella (Pugh) McNair; sisters Betty (Blaney) Lee, Vivian (McNair) Wolfe, Frances June Kelly, and Eloise McNair; sister-in-law Barbara (Garlitz) McNair; nephews: Steven McNair, Larry Wolfe, David and Mark Hood.

Friends may call at the Morgan Funeral Home in Reedsville on Saturday from 10 AM - 12 Noon, Graveside Services with Rev. Steven Lightner officiating will follow at Arthurdale Cemetery. The WV Army National Guard; VFWs of Preston County, and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 977 will provide full military honors.
