Doris Cecile (Budde) Dunaway

Doris Cecile (Budde) Dunaway, 93 of Arthurdale completed the last chapter of her earthly life in the comfort of her home on March 4, 2016. Doris was born on November 10, 1922 in Wallingford, Connecticut and was the youngest daughter of Harry A. and Cecile (LaCroix) Budde.
In May of 1947, Doris married William Robert Dunaway and moved from her home in Meriden, Connecticut to Masontown, WV where she devoted her time to raising a family. In 1957 Doris and her family moved to Arthurdale and over the years she became involved in the community, serving as president of the Women's Club as well as a deacon for the Arthurdale Community Presbyterian Church. When she had achieved her most important goal of raising a family, Doris began to focus on furthering her education through the Board of Regents Program at West Virginia University, joining her husband in his hobby as a beekeeper, and pursuing her passion for writing which led to the publishing of her first book, Ingersol's Corner, in 2013.
She is survived by three daughters: Linda Preston (Jim) of Santee, CA; Nancy Riggins (Paul); and Colleen Temple (David) both of Howesville, WV; two granddaughters: Brandy Golenia (Peter) and Lori Temple; one grandson, Cody Riggins; and niece Viane Stromberg of New Britain, CT. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, William 'Bob' Dunaway; a sister, Lois Olson; a niece Sandy Olson; and her parents.
Friends will be received at the Morgan Funeral Home in Reedsville on Tuesday March 8th from 2 - 8:00 pm and on Wednesday March 9th at the Arthurdale Community Presbyterian Church from 10 - 11:00 am the time of funeral services with Gene Kessel officiating. Interment will follow in the Arthurdale Cemetery.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and thanks to all the friends, neighbors, and caregivers for their acts of kindness which brought pleasure and comfort to her.
