Frederick Hugh Tennant

Frederick "Fred " Hugh Tennant 80, of Reedsville entered into eternal rest on Wednesday March 23, 2016 at Monongalia General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born at Daybrook on March 18, 1936 a son of the late Willie Coleman and Pearl (Moore) Tennant. Fred was a member of the Mt.Vernon United Methodist Church, Valley District Lions Club, Boilermakers Local # 667, and the Bucklick Sportsman's Club. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed family especially the grandkids, loved to talk about cars or horses or hunting. He always had a story to share.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years Merna Jean (Shaffer); four sons Alan (Cheryl), Douglas (Donna), Stephan (Tammie), and Eric "Jerry" (Joyce) Tennant; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and sister Linda Vanglider.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his stepmother Helen; four sisters Ruby Michael, Florence Helms, JoAnn Williams, and Ruth Toothman; and five brothers Donley "Ike", James, Kester, Denzil "Jack" Tennant, and also Ralph Michael.
Friends will be received at the Morgan Funeral Home, in Reedsville, from 6-8 p.m. Friday. Visitation will continue at the Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, 5360 Kingwood Pike, from 10 a.m. Saturday, March 26, until the 11 a.m. funeral services with Pastor John Brosky officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Zion Cemetery.
