Herbert Harlan Shaffer, 78, of Masontown entered into eternal rest from Monongalia General Hospital on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 with his loving wife by his side. He was born August 20, 1939 in Masontown a son of the late Dallas and Gertrude (Taylor) Shaffer.
Herb never knew a stranger and loved talking to everyone. He enjoyed being outside, gardening, spending time at the cabin and playing with the grandchildren. He was a jack-of-all-trades, always willing to lend a hand to family, friends and neighbors. He spent many years working for Sterling Faucet, Decker’s Creek Mine, and Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was also an authority on small engine repair. Herb liked studying his family genealogy, local history, and being an active in the Preston County Historical Society.
The family includes his wife Cathy (Morris) Shaffer; son Ralph Shaffer and wife Kristie; two daughters Donna Shaffer Wiles and Amy Goodwin; grandchildren Tiffany Barnes, Lincoln Wiles, and Lucas Wiles.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons; Herbert, Jr. and David; and his sister Margaret Cress.

Friday, February 9th from 3 – 7:00 pm the time of the Funeral Services with Brother Paul and Brother Robert Bolyard officiating.
