MADLYN MENEAR
Madlyn Aumaretia (Taylor) Menear, 87, died suddenly Wednesday afternoon, September 23, 2015, at her home in Arthurdale. She was born at home in Masontown, WV, on January 17, 1928, the daughter of the late Ralph and Vera (McClure) Taylor.
After graduating from Masontown High School, Madlyn worked for Morgan Shirt Company in Arthurdale until she married Charles (Buck) Menear. Later she was an Avon Representative for more than 20 years, and after the children were grown, she became a certified EMT and volunteered for many years for the Valley Ambulance Service. She was a care giver for her grand sons from infancy through adulthood, and was devoted to her family.
Madlyn was a great believer in public service. She served on election boards in her community until she reached the age of eighty. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, a life member of the Preston County CEO's, and a life member of Presbyterian Women. She was a member of the Arthurdale Presbyterian Church since the church's founding. She served as a Sunday School Teacher for over 40 years, was a Deacon of the church and was an ordained Elder.
She is survived by her three children, Ralph (Jane) Menear of Morgantown, Kathy (Mike) George of Arthurdale, and Retia (Steve) Roberts of Oldtowne, Florida, four grandsons, Adam Menear of Morgantown, Judson (Andrea) Taylor of Arthurdale, Pieter (Ellen Blaydes) Taylor of Maidsville, and Steve Roberts of Oldtowne; two brothers, Fred Taylor of Newburg and John (Pat) Taylor of Kingwood, two brothers-in-law, Robert (Luamma) Menear of Kingwood and Lloyd (Arlene) Menear of Phoenix, AZ, one sister-in-law, Lucille Bias of Phoenx, AZ, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 2003, a sister Christine Martino, three brothers Walter and Rex Taylor and Hubert Wilhelm.
Friends will be received at the Morgan Funeral Home, Rt. 7 East Reedsville 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 pm on Saturday September 26th. Funeral services in the Arthurdale Community Presbyterian Church will be 2:00 pm Sunday September 27, 2015 with Rev. Steven E. Lightner officiating. Interment at Arthurdale Cemetery.
