Oscar Joseph Whipkey 88, entered into eternal rest on Monday March 12, 2018 from his home in Arthurdale.
He was born July 16, 1929 in Benbush, WV a son of the late Russell Lee and Mary Berle (White) Whipkey. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Force. He worked many years as a carpenter through Local Union # 604, serving at one time as their Business Agent. He enjoyed coaching baseball and boxing. He was an AAU Boxing Judge. He loved hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He attended the Ebenezer Baptist Church. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, 50 year member of Morgantown Union Lodge # 4, and member Osiris Shrine in Wheeling.
He is survived by two sons: Joe Whipkey and wife Janet, Jack Whipkey and wife Sarah; two daughters: Patricia Bolyard and husband Terry, Susan Starliper and husband Greg; eight grandchildren: Shannon Thornhill, Sean Michael Whipkey, Matthew Whipkey, Travis Bolyard, Jason Bolyard, Bethany Talbert, Eric Starliper, and Lauren Starliper; and seven great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife of fifty-eight years Norma Jean (Ennis) Whipkey; his second wife Frances Kelly Orr Whipkey. Oscar was the last of seven siblings.
Friends may call at the Morgan Funeral Home in Reedsville 3 – 8 pm on Friday March 16th and again on
Saturday March 17th, 2018 from 10 – 11:00 am the time of services in the funeral home chapel with Rev Ron Ford and Rev. David D. Spence officiating.
WVANG Honors Detail will provide Military Rites. Masonic Graveside Services will follow at Arthurdale Cemetery.
