Ronald "Slem" Slemboski Obituary

Ronald O'Neill Slemboski (Slem), age 65, of Reedsville, was awarded his wings on Saturday, June 30 at Ruby Memorial Hospital after a long illness with family and friends at his side.

He was born July 20, 1952, in Caldwell, OH, the son of the late Mitchell and Mary Ruth Fowler Slemboski.

Slem worked as a timber cutter and heavy equipment operator clearing rights of way for transportation, power and gas and oil companies including clearing for the West Virginia Turnpike.  He began a new career in 1993 as a long haul owner operator and continued until he retired due to illness in October 2014, logging over a million miles of accident free trucking.

His favorite past times were hunting, football, Nascar or just drinking beer and spending time with his friends.  He was an avid member of the NRA, and attended church at New Life Ministries in Reedsville.  He never knew a stranger and could talk for hours with those he had just met.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sandy of Reedsville; one son, Ronald (JR) of Columbus, OH; one daughter, Summer (Don) Pitcher of Charleston, SC; three grandchildren, Austin, Addison and Anderson Pitcher also of Charleston, SC; two aunts, Jenny Krause and Jean Slemboski both of Akron, OH; two sisters, Diana Kirk and Kathy (Dave) Watson both of Sarahsville, OH; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends and acquaintances nationwide.

He was preceded in death by Mike Kirk, friend and brother-in-law and several aunts and uncles.

Family will receive friends at Morgan Funeral Home, 13411 Veterans Memorial Highway; Reedsville, WV 26547 for visitation on Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 12:00-8:00 pm. Funeral services Friday, July 6, 2018 11:00 am with Pastor Michael J. Charlton of New Life Ministries of Reedsville officiating.

Per Ron's request he will be cremated after the funeral services and buried in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Cemetery at Herring, with a graveside service held by his family at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, Ron has requested that donations be made to the Reedsville Volunteer Fire Department at P.O. Box 435; Reedsville, WV 26547 in his name.

A very special thank you is extended from the family to the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center, Morgantown WV and especially to Dr. Mohammed Almubarak, (otherwise known as Dr. Mo to all of his patients) and his team for the excellent care he was given during his journey.
