Andrew Scott Benson

Andrew Scott Benson, 38, of Morgantown, WV, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025, in Morgantown. He was born on July 18, 1986, in Morgantown, a son of Janice (Sazenski) Benson and James Scott Benson.

Andrew worked as an equipment operator in the construction industry. He had a deep love for the outdoors. He was passionate about fishing and bowhunting, and looked forward to each season with excitement. He also loved camping and spent many days in the woods searching for ginseng, a craft he had a special talent for.

One of Andrew’s greatest joys was being an uncle. He cherished his nieces and nephews and created lasting memories with them—playing board games, taking them on camping trips, and treating them to plenty of ice cream. He was known as the fun, cool uncle who always made time for them.

In addition to his parents, Andrew is survived by his daughter, Maria Darby; three sisters: Toby Foster, Jamie Snider and her husband Chad, and Makara Hedrick and her husband Jason; six beloved nieces and nephews: Jenna Mayle, Rheannon Foster, Hadyn Snider, Ava Snider, Brenden Hedrick, and Mariska Hedrick; and one great-nephew, Luke Mayle.

He was most recently preceded in death by his grandfather, Arvon Glenn Benson.

A private celebration of Andrew’s life will be held at a later date. Morgan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Benson family.
