Delores Jean Merritt, 79, of Sedalia Community passed peacefully at United Hospital Center on February 20, 2013. She was born in Doddridge County on September 19, 1933, the daughter of the late Guy Brooks Cutright and Flossie Gay Flanigan Cutright. Surviving is her beloved husband of more than sixty years, Rev. Robert Merritt. Also surviving are their seven children, Jean Strosnider (Randy) of Bridgeport, Jo Devericks (Michael) of Clarksburg, Jane Perine (Bobby) Of Harrisville, Jennifer Merritt of West Union, Josie Hardesty (Greg) of Columbia, MD, Jim Merritt (Jane) of Weston, and Jeff Merritt ( Luann) of Salem; grandchildren Joshua Merritt, Amanda Gump, Scott Strosnider, Corey Devericks, Bobbi Jo Ridenour, Tracy Messenger, Stephanie Devericks, Katie Devericks, Jason Perine, Rachelle Coffey, Rebecca Prunty, Shilo Merritt, Dakota Merritt, Levi Merritt, Justin Dotson, Maria Dotson, Lindsi Merritt, Benjamin Merritt, and Brandon Hardesty; several great-grandchildren. Delores was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She was retired from Doddridge County Board of Education as a school cook and devoted her time to helping her husband in his ministry, taught Sunday School at different times, was church pianist, enjoyed quilting, cross-stitching, canning, and loved cooking for her family and church. Friends may call at Greathouse Funeral Home in Salem on Thursday, February 21, 2013 from 4-8 PM and Friday, February 22, 2013 from 12:00 until time of service at 2:00PM with Reverend Bobby Perine and Reverend Don Flanigan officiating.
