Dona Evelyn Bolyard Knotts, 95 of Marquess Road died peacefully on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Heartland of Preston County with family members at her side. She was born September 13, 1917 on Laurel Mountain and was the last surviving child of the late Willie Talbert and Ellie Mandy Funk Bolyard. She prided herself on working hard as a mother and housewife with her husband, a coal mining farmer, Howard C. Knotts, who died in 1987. She enjoyed making quilts, attending Pentecostal church services and cooking for many family members and friends. She was a resident at Heartland since July of 2007. Dona is survived by three sons, Donald L Bolyard and friend Gloria of Barton, Maryland, Hayward C and Phyllis Knotts and Edward E and Linda Knotts all of Marquess Road; two daughters, Thelma M Knotts Ridenour Glass and David, Fellowsville, Norma M Knotts Murray and Jerry, Sinclair Road; one son-in-law Neil Sigley, Laurel Mountain; one sister-in-law Orpha Ridenour Bolyard, Newburg; one brother-in-law, Carl Stewart, Grafton;grandchildren, Blosum Cline and Sam, Danny Ridenour and Pattie, Pennie Wiles and companion John Murray, Joey Ridenour and Nicky, Matthew Murray and Rita, Jody Hunter and Richard, Ashley Murray, Joseph Murray, Jeff Sigley and Dawn, Kyle Sigley, Vickie Bolyard Steiner, Ricky Bolyard and Delsie, Thomas Knotts and Carla, Jamie Knotts, Jonas Knotts, and Brianna Knotts, great-grandchildren, Tyler Steiner, Chadwick Steiner, Ricki Bolyard, Haley Bolyard, Jordan Bolyard, Ashley Bolyard, Shawna Knotts Plum and Derek, Andrew Knotts, and companion Michelle Blackham, Selena Sunshine Wiles and companion Dustin Gidley, Starla McCauley and Matt, Danny Paul Ridenour and Ashley, Stephen Ridenour, Micah Ridenour, Casey Murray, Shayne Murray, Grant Hunter, Jessie Sigley and Logan Sigley; great-great grandchildren, Taylor Holt, Colton Knotts, Addison Plum and Mason McCauley; and many nieces and nephews and their decendents. In addition to her parents, Dona was preceded in death by her husband Howard C Knotts, one daughter, Phyllis Knotts Sigley, one daughter-in-law, Jeannie Nicol Bolyard, one granddaughter, Melissa Murray and one great grandson, Justin Sigley, and siblings, Hoy Bolyard, Annie Maxwell, Stella Cline, Dora Zinn, Eva Bolyard, Maybell Pratt, Bennie Bolyard, Annis Crawshaw, Kenneth Bolyard, Pearl Ridenour, Pauline Funk and Arizona Wolfe. The family would like to thank the staff of Heartland for all their help and comfort of our mother for the last six years. Family and friends will be received at the Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave. Newburg, Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 2-8 pm and Thursday, May 23, 2013 from 9am until time of service at 11:00 am with the Rev Rotha Hall and Rev Sam Cline officiating.
