Dorothy Kay (Dixon) Basile, 82, of Arthurdale, WV, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the Madison Center. Kay was born in Arthurdale, on March 11, 1943, a daughter of the late Richard Arthur Dixon and Jane Iris (McKinney) Dixon.
Kay was an avid baker and was especially known for her homemade pies, breads, and pepperoni rolls. Pies she donated brought big money at local community fundraisers. She retired as an office manager for the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health. Above all, she loved her family. She was a member of the Arthurdale Heritage and was a direct descendant (great-granddaughter) of Richard Arthur, namesake of Arthurdale.
Kay is survived by her son, Leo P. Basile; her granddaughter, Jane, whom she adored; her brother, Richard Arthur Dixon, Jr. and wife, Alice; and brother-in-law William “Joe” Tschiderer.
In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her sister, Jane Carol (Dixon) Tschiderer.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on March 15, 2026 at the Arthurdale Heritage.
