Edith M. Wolford

Edith May (Sheets) Wolford, age 92, of Rowlesburg, WV, passed away Friday, September 7, 2012, at Grafton City Hospital. She was born October 9, 1919, in Wendel, WV, a daughter of the late George Wayman Sheets and Bessie Elizabeth (Austin) Sheets. Her husband, Hess Wolford, preceded her in death in 1979. Mrs. Wolford was a mother and a homemaker. She made many beautiful quilts, and also enjoyed reading, having had a lifelong love of learning. She was a Methodist by faith. Surviving are: four sons, Conley Wolford, of Kingwood, Michael Wolford and wife Rose, of Morgantown, Kermit "Butch" Wolford and wife Peggy, of Rowlesburg, and Randall Wolford and wife Sherry, of Rowlesburg; three daughters, Mary Anne Nice, of Rowlesburg, Janet Masters and husband Chip , of Rowlesburg, and Loretta "Sally" Stone and husband Kenny, of Thornton; 17 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; one sister, Lena Sheets, of Grafton; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by: two infant children William and Carolyn; two sons, Walter and James; one daughter Barbara; three brothers, Johnny, James, and Albert; and two sisters, Thelma and Helen. Friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton, on Monday from 5 -8 p.m. and Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at the funeral home, with Rev. Jimmy Johnson officiating. Interment at Halleck Cemetery.
