Edward Everett Metheny

Edward Everett Metheny, 97, of Reedsville passed away on August 8, 2021 at Preston Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 13, 1923, a son of Carl and Emma Metheny. He served in the Navy, Army and Army Airborne and retired from Consolidated Coal Company. He remained very physically active throughout his life; enjoyed riding motorcycles, boating, swimming and taking long walks. He is survived by: his son, Joseph Keenan and wife Eileen of Westminster, MD; daughter, Linda Shaffer and husband Bernie of Reedsville, WV; and daughter-in-law Anna Metheny of Morgantown, WV; 6 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his wife, of 68 years Ruth, son Ed and 16 siblings. He accepted Christ as his savior when in his mid-80’s and lamented that he had waited too long to do so. He read his bible through several times, quoted John 3:16 regularly and expressed his thankfulness to God and his family relentlessly in his final years.  A graveside memorial service with Pastor Jeff Anderson officiating will be held on August 21, 2021 at 11AM at Oak Grove Cemetery in Terra Alta, WV.
