Edward Joseph Meyers, 74, of Reedsville, WV, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Kingwood Healthcare Center, surrounded by his loving family. Ed was born on November 25, 1950 in Pittsburgh, PA, son of the late Edward Joseph Meyers Sr. and Christine Anne (Drylie) Meyers.
Ed was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a proud US Navy and Navy Reservist with a combined 20 years of service. He retired as a MM1 (Machinist Mate First Class). After his military service, Ed worked as a heating plant supervisor at WVU, and as a control room operator at the Beechurst Power Plant. He was a member of the American Legion Post 174 and former commander of the American Legion Post 573. Ed was a member of the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. He was an avid reader, so much so that his wife dubbed him a “Kindle Killer”. He enjoyed operating ham radios and riding motorcycles with his wife.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Georgia Marie (Radabaugh) Meyers; a son, Lonnie Taylor (Lori), of Morgantown; a daughter, Tina Taylor (fiancé Tim Long), of Reedsville; five grandchildren, Radine Gum (Jeremy), of Bridgeport, Marlana Taylor, of Reedsville, Stephanie Corley, of Morgantown, Jamilyn Taylor (Brandon Fouch), of Morgantown, Seth Taylor (Liz), of Fairview; eight great grandchildren, Ziva, Cobun, Sawyer, Niko, Rhyus, Archer, Georgia, Oynx; four sisters, Cheryl Zietz, of PA, Roberta Myers, of OK, Mary Meyers, of Pittsburgh, and May Baran (Mike), of OH.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; one grandchild, Taylor Ray Marie Nicholson; one brother, Thomas J. Meyers; and one sister, Kathleen Meyers King.
Family and friends may be received at Morgan Funeral Home, 13411 Veterans Memorial Hwy, Reedsville, on Sunday, July 13, 2025, from 2pm until the 6pm funeral hour with Pastor Teresa Prince officiating. A graveside service will be accorded at the WV National Cemetery on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at 11am. Full military honors will be conducted by the Preston County Honor Guard.
