Elsie "Jerri" (Cress) Metz

Elsie “Jerri” Metz, 85, of Masontown died Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Sundale nursing home in Morgantown. She was born August, the 21st 1938 in Masontown, a daughter of the late Audis Glenn and Gertrude Blanche (Johnson) Cress. 

She worked for 20 years as a seamstress at the Morgan Shirt Factory, Colshire Manufacturing and The Pajama Factory in Morgantown. Jerri was all about spending time with family, she loved the family reunions, picnics, camping, and leisure time on the boat. No visitor ever left her home hungry.

She is survived by her husband, James William Metz and son James William Metz, Jr and wife Corrie, all of Masontown:  granddaughter, Haley Hillen (husband, Nick) and their girls Ellie and Estelle; granddaughter Holli Mann (husband, Matt) and son Zayden; an army of nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers: Audis Jacob Cress, Donald Carl Cress, Dale Carroll Cress, and Junior Woodrow “Sam” Cress; and three sisters: Wanda Blanche Bolyard Cobb, Virginia Jean Lowdermilk, and Dorsey Eleanor Walters. 

Friends may call at the Morgan Funeral Home in Reedsville on Friday, September 15th from 4 – 7:00 PM and at the funeral home from 10 to 11:00 AM the time of Funeral Services on Saturday, September 16th, 2023 with Bishops Paul and Robert Bolyard officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Masontown.
