Garlan Smith

Garlan Smith, 83, of Sutton, WV passed away Thursday, June 07, 2012 at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born May 15, 1929 in Wyoming Co, WV the son of the late John Henry Smith and Martha Jane Milan Smith. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Twila G. Whaley Smith. In addition to his wife he is survived by three children; Cindy Kordella of Baltimore, MD, Michael D. Smith of North Carolina and Pamela Lynn Trivo of New Mexico; twelve grandchildren; Joshua M., Madison R., Megan E., Mackenzie G., Mary B., James C., Molly M. and Jeremiah P. Torivio, Tony M. Perri, Tyler Rundgren, Amanda, Ashley and Alexis Smith, Dakota Young and Kayla Hudson and five great grandchildren; Brendan M. and Noah D. Perry and Leah M. and Emily M. Nocar and Kylee Rundgren; one sister; Mary Jane Miles of Sophia, WV; two brothers; Howard Smith of Sophia, WV and Clifford "Pappy" Smith of Florida. He was preceded in death by three brothers; Junior, Robert and Billy Smith. Garlan was in the United States Army having served during the Korean War and in Japan he then went on to work for Bethlehem Steel in Baltimore, MD. Garlan enjoyed gardening, Trees, Flowers and he loved his pets. He was a handyman that could build anything. Family and friends will be received at the Davis Funeral Home, One Olen Thomas Dr., Rt. 98, Clarksburg from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, where services will be held Monday, June 11, 2012 at 1:00p.m. with the Reverend Todd Jarman officiating.
