Gladys Virginia Willis-Stone, 85 Our beloved mother and grandmother was called home on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Preston Memorial Hospital after a long battle with Diabetes and Alzheimer Disease surrounded by her family, who will greatly miss her. Gladys was born July 13, 1926 in Rowlesburg to the late William and Ethel Rogers. She married John H. Willis, Sr. in 1946 and they moved to a farm in Gladesville in 1954 where they raised a large, wonderful family. Gladys had a passion for gardening, reading, needlework, photography, crossword puzzles and her family who meant the world to her. Cake decorating was a hobby that she shared with friends and family which made those special occasions even more memorable. The grandchildren especially remember those unique birthday cakes. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband John H. Willis, Sr, a son Kevin and daughter Linda and five siblings. She is survived by her second husband Darrell Stone and eight of her ten children: John H. Willis, Jr. and Louella, Katherine "Kathy" Savage and Jeff, Susan Pratt, Elizabeth "Libby" Durst, Timothy Willis and Lisa, Alan Willis and Dorthy, Thomas Willis and Pam, Terrance Willis and Rita, a sister, Leona B. Wilson and brother Gay Rogers. Gladys was a grandmother to 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Friends and family will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave., Newburg, WV 26410 on Friday, June 29, 2012 from 4-9 pm and Saturday, June 30, 2012 from 9:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm with Rev John Casto officiating. Interment will follow at Gladesville Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of Heartland of Preston County for their compassionate care of our mother and grandmother during the past two years. A special thank-you to Gladys' roommate and friend, Dona Knotts. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest donations be made to Huntingtons Chorea Research.
