James ‘David’ Rehe, 33, of Masontown, WV, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, September 29, 2025. He was born on February 1, 1992, in Morgantown, WV, the cherished son of Danny Rehe and Tammy (Davis) Rehe.
David was a devoted husband, proud father, loyal son, caring brother, and faithful friend. He worked as a dedicated mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, where he was known for his reliability and kindness to those on his route. For the past 10 years, he was also a proud member of The River Church, where his faith was a guiding light in his life.
From the time he laced up his skates at age four, hockey became a lifelong passion. He played on the Morgantown Blades travel team throughout his childhood, and after he was married, became a player in the Morgantown Adult Hockey League and proud member of the Gooster Hockey Team. A true fan at heart, he rarely missed cheering on the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Beyond work, church, and the rink, David was known for his humor, kindness, and compassion. He had a gift for making people feel heard and valued, and his love for his children and his wife was at the very center of his life.
In addition to his parents, David is survived by his beloved wife of 10 years, Caitlin Joelle (Walker) Rehe; and their three children, Ellie Carson Rehe, Eli Walker Rehe, and Emmett Hudson Rehe. He is also survived by his sisters, Heather Lynn Reckart (Joe) of Cuzzart, and Brittany Rehe of Masontown; his grandmothers, Loretta Davis of Arthurdale and Mary Rehe of Masontown; his mother-in-law, Susan Walker of Morgantown; nephews, Jase Reckart, Joseph Saltenis, Morgan Walker, and Daniel Summers; nieces, Jordyn Reckart, Sienna Arthur, Angeleah Saltenis, Emily Creasey, and Sarah Tucker; sisters-in-law, Laura (David) Saltenis of Highland Heights, OH, Katrina (David) Sommers of Chippewa Lake, OH, and Courtney (Alex) Arthur of Cumberland, MD; his aunt, Vicki (Dave) Neilsen of Florida; his uncle, Kevin (Tami) Davis of Arthurdale; his best friend, Michael Mullen of Bridgeport; as well as many cousins and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Frank Rehe and Tommy Davis; his father-in-law, Delmar Walker; and his uncle, Jeff Davis.
Family and friends may gather at The River Church, 4234 Dents Run Rd., Morgantown, WV, on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6 p.m., with Pastor Nathaniel Hudson officiating. A graveside service will be held the following day, Friday, October 3, at 11 a.m. at Arthurdale Cemetery.
