John "Johnny" Thomas Holt

The gentle heart of John "Johnny" Thomas Holt Jr. quit beating on January 15, 2013 and heaven gained another songbird. John was born December 4, 1935; son of the late John Thomas Holt Sr. and Eula Stire Holt. In addition to his wife Nadene Eubank Holt he is survived by three children Mark Allen Holt and wife Rebecca of Salem, WV, Beth Ann Lasure of Martinsburg, WV, John Holt III and wife Pamela of Core, WV; five grandchildren, Justin Lasure and wife Lori, Latisha Lovo and husband Jose, Jennifer Johnson and husband Brandon, Ladona Holt, John Holt IV; ten great-granchildren Justin Jr., Josh, Eli, Nate, Jacob, Jake, Angel, John, Zack, Jaro; One brother, Adrie Holt and wife Mae. In addition to his parents John was preceded in death by one grandson, Mark Allen Holt Jr.; one brother Burgess Holt; Three sisters Estal Watson, Slyvia Holt and Delores Bennett. John loved the lord and was a friend to all who knew him. He was a beloved member of the Northview United Methodist Church and Davis Bible Class. John joined the American Federation of Musicians Union in 1970 where he held the office of President from 1991-2001. John retired from Harrison County Board of Education after 33 years of service. After retirement, John worked for Horner Brothers Engineering as a utility inspector. Johnny had a love for hunting, dogs, his family, and an even greater love for bluegrass music and his Lord. Visitation Thursday, January 17, 2013 from 4:00PM - 8:00 PM and Friday, January 18, 2013 from 4:00PM - 8:00PM at Davis Funeral Home; service Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 11:00AM at Davis Funeral Home Chapel.
