Leroy Carlisle Myers 93, of Arthurdale, World War II Hero was called to his heavenly home on Thursday January 10, 2013. He was born June 16, 1919 in Howesville a son of the late Bertha Mae (Hartman) Myers Teets and Frank Henry Myers. He joined the National Guard in the 1930's, U S Army 82nd Airborne 407 Quartermaster from March 1942 - July 9th 1945. He was a glider man; he made 3 successful glider landings. He fought in every major battle in World War II: Italy, Sicily, France, Africa, Ireland, England, Belgium and Germany. He was wounded in Naples, Italy and received a purple heart and several other medals for his bravery. Life Member of DAV of Grafton; American Legion Post # 71 of Oakland, MD; VFW Post #1589 of Masontown; Chapter #698 Purple Hearts of Morgantown; All American Chapter of the Airborne of WV and World War II Memorial. He retired from Consolidated Coal Co., Osage Mine in 1978 and had worked at other mines also. He worked at Sterling Faucet and helped build the Ohio Turnpike. Leroy coached Canyon Softball league and played Baseball for WV State League in the 1940's. He loved to hunt and golf in his younger years. He had a great sense of humor; he loved to hug every woman that would let him. He loved his family very much. He is survived by his wife Lucille Elizabeth Smith Myers; Three Daughters: Sharon Coker and husband Warren of Arthurdale, Beverly Bolyard of Cypress, Texas, and Sandy Ennis and husband Enk of Masontown; Two sons, Robin Myers and wife Patty of Morgantown, Mickey Myers and wife Debbie of Arthurdale; Daughter-in-law Carol Myers of Arthurdale; sister-in-law Ruth Ann Neely of Arlington, VA; Eleven grandchildren: Rick Myers and wife Lisa, Cheryl Myers Duff and husband Mark, Matt Ennis, Shannon Ennis Sisler and husband John, Fae Crissman Skuya and husband Robert, Brett Coker and wife Jodi, Seth Crissman and wife Any, Dee Myers Hayes and husband Harry, Tara Myers McDonald and husband Matt, Major Myers, and Samantha Myers; Great Grandchildren: Lance Sisler and girlfriend Flo Phillips, Cortnie Sisler and fiancée Ronnie Rager, Rebecca and Matt Myers, Courie Snider, J W, Elizabeth, Brandon and Anaya Ennis, Alex and Morgan Duff, Siena Skuya, Larkin Coker, and he was looking forward to adding twins to this group in March; Brother John B Myers of Tunnelton; and several nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: his first wife Idell (Jean) McGinnis Myers in 1978; his oldest son: Richard Leroy Myers in 2003; his stepfather Enos Teets; brothers Henry F. and Edward P. Myers; Sisters Amy Salisbury, Mary Dawson, Anna Jean Radabaugh, and Gertrude Catherine Greaser. He will be missed by his loving Boston Terrier "Buzz" and "Callie" his cat.
