Nancy Arlene (Knight) Lininger

Nancy Arlene Knight Lininger, 76, of Arthurdale, WV, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Windy Hill Village in Kingwood, WV, due to complications of dementia. She was born on June 23, 1944, the daughter of the late Hubert S. and Zelda B Foster Knight.

Nancy was the youngest of eight children. She graduated from high school and obtained a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degree in Education. Nancy went on to become a teacher and librarian. She retired from Valley Elementary School in Arthurdale. Nancy was a resident of Arthurdale for over fifty years. She loved books and was extremely passionate about teaching children to read. She was an avid supporter of Arthurdale Heritage. Nancy also enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She married her loving husband, the late Gerold “Butch” R. Lininger, on June 30, 1962. They were married for over fifty-five years, until his death in October 2017.

Nancy is survived by one daughter, Kimberly C. Sholes and husband John, Kings Mountain, NC; grandchildren, Tyler J Sholes, Huntsville, AL, Kyle R. Sholes, Chapel Hill, NC, and Aivita K Sholes, Muskegon, MI; one sister, Jeannie Knight Hennen; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Nancy was preceded in death by six siblings.

Morgan Funeral Home is handling the cremation arrangements for the Lininger Family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
