Nelson "Doug" Douglas Sankbeil

Nelson “Doug” Douglas Sankbeil, 71, of Arthurdale, WV, passed away on September 4, 2025. Doug was born on July 3, 1954 in Morgantown, son of the late William Edward and Adeline Brown Sankbeil.

Doug was a proud coal miner by profession, having worked since age eighteen for Consolidated Coal Company in several positions. He most recently retired from Leer Mining in Grafton, in 2021. Doug spent many years at the dirt tracks, racing in I79, Roaring Knob and Elkins Speedway. After he retired, Doug spent days tinkering at the farm and his garage.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of twenty-four years, Jenny (Yoke) Sankbeil; three daughters, Melissa Gressley, Marlana Sankbeil, Marshawna Montgomery; grandchildren, Christion and Slade Sutton, Ramsey Gressley, Jeremiah and Layla Montgomery; bonus children, Ben (Heather) Davis, Jamie Davis, Janna (Joshua) Adams; two bonus grandsons, Judah and Josiah Adams.

In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his brother, Jeffrey Sankbeil and an infant brother.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services and cremation services will be provided by Morgan Funeral Home, 13411 Veterans Memorial Highway, Reedsville, WV.
