Nettie Ellen (Shingleton) Kisner, age 102, E. Main Street, Grafton, formerly a resident of Mansfield Place, Philippi,passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at Grafton City Hospital. She was born in Grafton, August 2, 1910, a daughter of the late Abraham Shingleton and Louisa (Harold) Shingleton. Her husband Charles C. Kisner preceded her in death November 23, 1988, they were united in marriage March 8, 1941. Nettie loved to garden, especially flowers, she had a green thumb and could make anything grow. She loved to walk and pick and cook greens. She was very loving and giving, and was first and foremost a mother, but had worked various jobs outside the home, including the Home Laundry, the Taylor County Board of Education, and Four Corners Restaurant. She was a fastidious housekeeper and a loving mother and wife. Surviving are: one daughter, Arvelva Shackelford, of Grafton; one son, Charles E. Kisner, of Grafton; one sister, Shirley Lovejoy, of Grafton; 13 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by: two daughters, Mary Lucille Knotts, and Annabelle Richmond; eight brothers, Theodore, Edward, Faye, Dennis, Emmett, Kenny, James, and Clyde Shingleton; three sisters, Edna Holbert, Janie Kozolusky, and Eva Drumheller. Friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave., Grafton, on Thursday, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 30, 2012, at the funeral home with Chaplin Ronalene Delligatti officiating.
