Patricia Marie (Cunningham) Taylor. 93, of Gladsville, WV, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on July 19, 2022, with her family by her side.
She was born May 22, 1929, in Gladesville, WV, a daughter of the late Fred K. Cunningham and Nellie B. (Holmes) Cunningham.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Nathan Taylor. She was also preceded by her siblings, Anna Clare Thorn, and William and Robert Cunningham. She is survived by four nieces, five nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Pat was a 1947 graduate of Newburg High School. She began working and held various jobs while attending Morgantown Business College. After graduating Pat began a 32 year career at West Virginia University where she was employed by several chairs, the last being Dr. Bernard Schultz. She retired as office manager for the Division of Art, Creative Arts Center. She faithfully attended the Manown Church until the pandemic, and was very active at the church. She loved her pastor and all her church family. Family was important to Pat, she dearly enjoyed the holiday dinners at Linda’s and being with the nieces and nephews and their children, Taylor, Saffron, and Billy. Pat was active in the community, she and her husband volunteered many Saturday evenings for the local ambulance service. Pat was a member of the CEOs for many years and was a noted member of the year for Preston County in 2018. Her latest historical project was working with others to get the Gladesville Trickett’s Store added the West Virginia National Registry. Pat also was a board member for the Preston County Public Service District #1 for over 20 years. Having grown up on a farm she had a deep love for animals. She had horses, a donkey, cattle, dogs and cats. After her husband’s passing, her nephews helped her farm for the past 10 years.
The family is beyond grateful for the Newburg and Kingwood EMTs. They provided immediate, professional medical care. We also want to thank the Kamp Ambulance Service of Kingwood.
