Raymond Harding Sharps

Raymond H Sharps, 88 of Newburg, WV, went to be with the Lord, Friday, July 6, 2012 at Overlook Medical Clinic in New Wilmington, PA. He was born on November 6, 1923, in Newburg, son of the late Henry Sankey and Nora May Larew Sharps. Raymond loved gardening, blue grass music and cutting timber. He was a retired coalminer and dozer operator for Jennings Coal Co and Rebeka Coal Co. Raymond is survived by three daughters, Pauline Sue Nestor and Delmis, New Castle, PA, Connie Dale Alberico, Freedom, PA, and Patty Ann Ruble and Bill Alberico, Parkersburg; three grandchildren, Delmis Jr. and Roni Nestor, New Castle, PA, Scott and Karen Nestor, West Middlesex, PA, Nathanael and Renee Ruble, Wichita, KS; seven great-grandchildren, Sara and Gregg Clarke, Dale James Nestor, Lindsey Alexia Nestor, Elizabeth Jane Nestor, Ava Marija Ruble, Jenna Catherine Ruble and Elijah Benjamin Ruble; one great-great grandchild, Lily Grace Clarke; his companion of fourteen years, Zeda Greathouse, Newburg; one brother, Carl Sharps, Southington, Ohio; three sisters, Genevieve Mouser, Independence, Opal Annon, Newburg, Naomi "Dolly" Smeltzer, Warren, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty four years in 1997, Catherine M Tasker Sharps whom he married on May 21, 1944, one son-in-law, Ralph Edward Alberico, seven brothers, Dennis, James, John, Blaine, Archie, Dale and Cecil Sharps; three sisters, Enid Harris, Bertha Rainey and Edith King. Family and friends will be received at the Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave. Newburg, WV, Sunday, July 8, 2012 from 2-8pm and Monday July 9, 2012 from 9am until time of service at 11:00 am with Reverend Marcy Taylor Hile officiating.
