Robert Allen Liston, 71, of Independence, WV, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. Born on November 23, 1953, in Morgantown, WV, Robert was the son of the late Russel James Liston and Anna Theresa (Sobol) Liston.
Robert spent his career working as a skilled mechanic, primarily in the coal mines, and also worked at Greer Limestone. A hardworking and outdoors-loving man, he found joy in nature and hands-on craftsmanship. Whether he was fishing, camping, woodworking, or metalworking, Robert embraced every opportunity to build, create, and enjoy the world around him.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 15 years, Tracy Liston; his daughter, Theresa Cavender; his granddaughter, Shelby Cavender; and Donna Cavender, who was like a granddaughter to him. He is also survived by his sister, Lorraine Weaver, and his beloved companion, Buddy.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Liston.
Robert will be deeply missed by all who knew him and remembered for his strong work ethic, quiet strength, and love for the simple joys in life.
Per his wishes, Robert’s cremation services will take place privately. Online condolences can be sent to the Liston family at www.morganfuneralhomewv.com. Morgan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Liston family.
