Robert "Bob" Ralph Stobart, Jr. age 77, of Glade Springs, WV, formerly of Grafton, passed away Monday, September 3, 2012, at the Villages of Greystone , Beckley, WV. He was born September 4, 1934, in Elm Grove, WV, a son of the late Robert R. Stobart, Sr. and Catherine (Shook) Stobart. His wife, Sharon (Kirby) Stobart, survives. They were united in marriage December 12, 1986.
Bob was a 1952 graduate of Triadelphia High School in Wheeling WV; he was a graduate of WVU with a bachelor's degree in Engineering and Math. He was a retired Division Engineer for CSX railroad, having retired in 1997, with 34 years service. He was a Korean War veteran having served in the US Army. He was a member of the Grafton Lodge #15 AF&AM, the Taylor County Shrine Club, the Supreme Council of Wheeling 33°, A&A Scottish Rite of Free Masonry 32°, and the Valley of Wheeling Orient of WV. He was a Methodist by faith. In addition to his wife he is survived by: one daughter, Amy Riffle and husband Jimmy, of Grafton; one son Robert R. "Kelly" Stobart, III and wife Karen, of Cincinnati, OH; two step children, Erik Evans, of Beaver, WV, and Nichole (Evans) Groth and husband Jason, of Bloomington, IN; five grandchildren, Jimmie Riffle, John Riffle and wife Lili Paola Ruiz- Riffle, Jeremy Riffle, and Jordan Riffle, and Bobby Stobart; seven step grandchildren, Seneca Evans, Conner "Blake" Evans, Christina Hartman, Chet, Doug, Danny, and Janelle Weber; two sisters Joanne Starr, of Charleston, WV, and Linda Smith and husband Tom, of Chillicothe, OH; one sister in law, Nancy Adlington and husband Larry, of Grafton; two aunts, Ethel Morgan, of Wheeling, WV, and Mary Jane Shook, of PA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family of Mr. Stobart would like to send out a special thank you the staff of Villages of Greystone and Hospice of Southern WV for your extraordinary care during the illness and eventual death of our beloved, husband, father, and grandfather. Your loving kindness will not be forgotten.
Friends may call at Bartlett Funeral Home, 202 McGraw Ave, Grafton, on Thursday, from 2-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 7, 2012, at the funeral home. Masonic burial rites will be rendered by The Grafton Lodge #15 AF&AM. Interment at the WV National Cemetery. Military graveside services will be accorded by the VFW Memorial City Post #3081, the American Legion Taylor County Post #12, Central WV DAV Chapter 24, and their auxiliaries, and the WV Army National Honor Guard of Camp Dawson.
