Robert Lee Thorn, 89, of Reedsville, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. He was born in Howesville, WV, on May 31, 1936, a son of the late Adam “Hawk” Thorn and Eleanor (Hartman) Thorn.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Sandra (Corbin) Thorn; three children: daughter Mishell (Randy) Howard and sons Mark (Thelma) Thorn and Jeff (Joyce) Thorn; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; two sisters, Shirley Spear and Mary (Pat) Vanover; and his beloved dog, Katie.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army for three years. He spent much of his career as a coal miner, working for several area mines, and later dedicated 12 years to supporting youth at the Olympic Center, a rehabilitation facility in Preston County.
A true Mountaineer at heart, Bob was an avid fan of WVU sports and cheered faithfully for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. He cherished time with his family and especially enjoyed coaching his sons in Little League baseball. Bob’s love, kindness, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation services will be accorded by Morgan Funeral Home and Crematory, 13411 Veterans Memorial Hwy., Reedsville, WV.
