Russell Allan Greathouse, 84, of Morgantown, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 5th, 2022 at the J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, with loving family by his side. He was born April 24, 1937, in Bull Run, a son of the late Sylvester and Ona Pearl (Jenkins) Greathouse.
He was a proud member of the UMWA Local 1702 and worked for many years as a coal miner. He loved the outdoors, hunting, and fishing with his family at Smoke Hole Caverns and Stump Sisters at 7 Islands. He was also an avid Mountaineer enthusiast, especially football and basketball. He was a big Dale Earnhardt NASCAR fan. One of his favorite pass times was playing the card game Set Back with his siblings. He loved spending time with his grand-pets.
He leaves: a son, Eric A. Greathouse (Bobbi); two daughters: Vera M. Davis and Regina R. Greathouse (Roger Samuelson); two brothers; William “Moody” and Edgar Greathouse; sister, Brenda Greathouse; five grandchildren: Clayton and Aaron Davis, Kaitlyn, Emily, and Aimery Samuelson; along with several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his extended loving family: Terry and Kathy Taft and their children Winter, Jonathon, and Moriah and their families, and close friend Harry Franks.
He is preceded in death by three brothers - Arthur, Ron (Sally), Jack (Merle) Greathouse and three sisters - Virginia (Ken) Nicholson; Loretta June Nicholson; Ruby (Earl) Cale; and his sister-in-law Nanci Greathouse.
Friends may call at the Morgan Funeral Home in Reedsville on Saturday, April 9th
from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM again on Sunday, April 10th, 2022 from 1 - 2:00 PM, the time of the Funeral Services in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. David D. Spence officiating.
Graveside Services will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
