Sarah Marie Jacobs

Sarah Marie Jacobs, age 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at her daughter’s residence.

She was born June 6, 1943, in Huntington, West Virginia, to Virgil and Melvina (Canterbury) McCloud. Marie was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Tonya Marie McCarthy, and great-granddaughter Haven Brooke McCarthy Marie loved baking, crafts, shopping, dining out in different places, playing rummy, and most of all, reading her bible and spending time with her family.

Her life is a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Matthew 6:5-15.

"Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen”

Marie is survived by her daughters, Linda McCarthy, Tammy Jacobs Cooley, and Sherry (Charlie) Uphold; her grandchildren, Heidi (Gavin) Lantz, Crystal Mackie, James Jacobs, Aaron Jacobs, Danielle Cordwell, and Chad Cordwell; Great-granddaughters, Jaylena McCarthy, Josie McCarthy, Juliet McCarthy, and Reese Mackie. Her four sisters, Patti Heaberlin, Francis Gallimore, Debbie Fortner, and Loretta Roberts. Her two brothers, Jody McCloud and John McCloud. She will be forever remembered by her many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family wishes to thank Amedisys Hospice, with a special thanks to Camille Western and Robin Nichols for the loving care and kindness they so tenderly gave to Marie.
