Stanley D. Gain of Marshville Community passed away January 1, 2013 at United Hospital Center. He was born June 5, 1912 on Big Flint in Doddridge County and had celebrated his 100th birthday with family and friends at the Marshville Community Center last summer. His parents were the late Reason Gain and Orpha Underwood Gain. He was married to the late Pearl Williams Gain and later to the late Rhea Utter Gain. He was retired from U Carbide-Graftech. Mr. Gain was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been predeceased by five brothers and one sister. Surviving is one son LeRoy D. Gain and wife Nancy of Helvetia,; three daughters, Dorothy J. Burner of Madison, OH, Norma L. Williams of Mentor, OH, Yvonne S. Peck and husband Robert of Texas; one step-son, Don M. Herrod and wife Debra of Marshville, a step-daughter Linda Linder and husband Charles of Mineral Wells, WV.; seventeen grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Robert D. Gain and Glen K. Gain. His daughter-in -law Beth Sullivan Gain survives in Nutter Fort. Mr. Gain enjoyed woodworking, carving, making baskets, small engine repairs and chain saw sharpening. Friends may call at Greathouse Funeral Home in Salem on Friday, January 4, 2013 from 3-8 PM where the funeral service will be held Saturday, January 5 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Bill Davis presiding.
