Message from Joyce Cottle - October 23 at 01:10 PM

Dear Nancy and Family,I just received word of Butch's departure and want you to know that you have our sympathy! Butch was a wonderful fun loving guy! I loved just setting and listening to him tell his stories and laughing with him. I always enjoyed the calls he would make and learning about all his family and interests. Our thoughts and prayers are with each of you!Much love, Joe and Joyce Cottle

At every family gathering, after Grandma Shorty stuffed us full of beans and cornbread, Uncle Butch would tell stories and jokes and had everyone laughing. Butch and my Grandfather Paul inspired me to become a mechanical engineer (and taught me how to sip whiskey). I am sure he is up there with my mom and Aunt Joann and Kenny, telling jokes and laughing. Franklin D. Shaffer

Butch was like a second father to me. I have fond memories of working for he and Nancy mowing grass. We had good times working on the mowers and drinking coffee together on the back porch. What knowledge I have of working on lawn mower motors, and small engine repair, came almost all from him. I am going to miss him. Rest easy, my friend. Luke Massey
